Team Fortress 2 Uber Update

Valve is putting Team Fortress 2 for free-play all week long to celebrate the release of the biggest, most ambitious update in the history of Team Fortress 2.

Also the website for the game got a revamp. Lets see what team got to say about the upcoming update:

We’ve got a lot to announce as we get closer to the update’s release this Thursday, June 23rd. We’ve been holding one of the surprises pretty close to the vest for months now. We don’t want to ruin it, but we’ll give you four clues to get you guessing:

1.) It IS a “Meet the” short.
2.) It involves ONE of the two remaining classes.
    3.) It’s NOT the Pyro.
    4.) It’s the MEDIC.

Let the speculation begin! While you’re puzzling that out, why not click over to the first of our class pack announcements: Mobster Monday. To make sure everything was as accurate as possible, we went deep undercover at the most Italian place we could find, The Olive Garden. We asked the Mafia about a million questions, none of which they understood, because our mouths were full of all the free breadsticks the Mafia gives you when you visit them (they’re not such bad guys).

All that hanging out with mob guys must have rubbed off on us, because we’ve decided to celebrate the Über Update by giving you an offer you can’t (or at least shouldn’t) refuse–an unprecedented WEEK-LONG FREE WEEKEND of Team Fortress 2, starting right now! Presents: The SWAMP theme presented us a new pack called: SWAMP! There are numerous assets included in download, which will help you build cool muddy swamp maps. Alongside the assets there are 4 maps included.

You can download and find all the information about the pack on the official Swamp page.

Scream Fortress [TF2 Hauntdead Halloween Special]

The second annual Halloween special is upon us. For the first time, there is a NPC mini-boss in Team Fortress 2. In the new map  – Mann Manor,  The Horseless Headless Horsemann spares no one. Mann Manor is a spooky “attack/defend map littered with exploding pumpkins”, created by Art Pass Contest winners, Tim Johnson and Alex Kreeger.

It’s clearly going to be an interesting inclusion, what with that old dead Mr Mann causing trouble in a way TF2 hasn’t seen before. New achievements, new hats, new taunt…..its hard to count it all.

The event will last from 27th October until 8th November. You can find more information on official TF2 Scream Fortress update page.

Team Fortress 2 patch – new items, maps & game mode

Members of the Polycount Community were given 5 weeks to come up with a SET of items for one of the 9 different TF2 classes. These sets had to be within the same theme, and fit well within the TF2 universe. In total, some 70 sets were completed and entered (read: that’s at least 210 items!) It’s no wonder they had their work cut out for them when choosing the first ever pack.

Out of the 70 or so entries that Valve received, nearly half of the entries are of a high enough quality to be shipped in future updates without much work needed on Valve side.

See all the winner’s packs on the official Polycount’s thread.

The official patch will include item trading, a brand new game mode, and around twenty new weapons and hats (Polycount’s items included).

The patch comes soon (Valve time).

Gaming Heads’ 12 inch Team Fortress 2 line – The Heavy

Gaming Heads is proud to introduce the first in our 12 inch Team Fortress 2 line, the Heavy!

It’ll stand a whopping 12 inches tall, and come in both red and blue flavours (with exclusive variants with different facial expressions), so as not to have anyone feeling left out.

It’s just the first in an entire line of them, so hopefully we’ll see each and every member of the Team Fortress 2 team represented.
